The London Gazette
The London Gazette is an official British Government publication. It is the oldest surviving English newspaper first published in 1665. It is currently published every weekday, except Bank Holidays.
The London Gazette contains official Government announcements but is primarily known as the paper where statutory notices are required to be published. It lists details of bankruptcy proceedings, winding-up orders against companies and dissolutions of partnerships and other legal notices.
The London Gazette has sister publications – the Edinburgh Gazette and Belfast Gazette. There are also a number of supplements published covering:
• honours and awards
• premium bonds
• armed forces promotions
• company information.
Insolvency data, both personal and corporate is found in the London Gazette. So today many businesses find the information in it invaluable to their business, as it can help many organisations manage fraud and credit risks.
