These consultancy services identify and mitigate risks at the earliest possible stages of a projects development and ensure that the best technologies are utilised and cost savings are made early on to ensure the projects financial viability.

History of AMEC

AMEC’s history can be traced back to two specialist engineering parent companies – Matthew Hall and Leonard Fairclough. The companies then were involved with oil platform design, power generation and bridge and road construction.

In 1982 AMEC plc was formed when William Press and Fairclough construction groups merged. By 1988 they acquired the Matthew Hall group of companies and expanded its international operations all over the world. They took on major projects such as the building of Hong Kong airport.

AMEC has gradually moved away from the construction industry and branched out more into international project management and engineering business services. By 2005 the company had become extremely diverse and was employing almost 45,000 people. So it was decided by the Board of the company to focus primarily on the core activities of oil and gas, power and process and environmental services. This resulted in the non core built environment business being sold in 2007.
